11/26/07 - New Hampshire has 7 charity poker rooms spread across the state. Sharky’s Poker Room has 4 locations in Hinsdale, Nashua, Manchester and Dover, then you have the bigger Dog Track poker rooms in Seabrook, Salem and Belmont. While poker remains technically illegal in New Hampshire, playing poker for charity does not, thus a strange symbiotic relationship has come about in the Granite State that allows poker players to keep most of their winnings, the State to get it’s cut, and local charities to find a tremendous stream of revenue. Dog tracks like Rockingham Park have up to 30 tables and poker is being played 6 nights a week. The charities get 35% of the profits with the rest going to the operators.
